Tips to sort, purge & reorganize kitchen storage shelf space

Over time, kitchen storage shelf space tends to get filled up without the benefit of moving. It can be quick and easy to reorganize the space to make it more efficient.
The key to success in organizing is routinely purging and sorting where the benefits of reorganized shelves in the kitchen can be enjoyed every day.

Take an honest look: Is the kitchen storage shelf space being used effectively? Do you see items stored there because you use or need the items or because you had the space not? Re-organizing in the kitchen is usually less emotional attachment to items in the kitchen. It is easier than closets or basements.

Adjust shelf height: You can adjust the shelf height in order to get maximum use out of the shelf storage. You can make a group of short items on one shelf and taller items on another. Be alert to placing cookbooks at eye level and heavy items on lower shelves.

Pitch items not used: There are certain to be items that you do not need or use. Plastic container is one category that adds up quickly. You should sort and purge what you are not using.

Stack & nest items: Group like items together, like bowls and baskets to make maximum use of the space, in order to you can nest items as you put things back in order.
